The first openly gay footballer in Scotland has urged fans to combat homophobia
According to Zander Murray, the majority of discriminatory abuse is directed at older fans and online trolls.
Zander Murray (31), who plays for League 2 side Bonnyrigg Rose FC, claims that attitudes toward LGBTQ people have shifted in recent years among players, club staff, and officials. However, primarily older fans and online trolls continue to spew racist abuse.
The striker, who came out in September of last year, has been researching homophobia in Scottish football for a new BBC documentary that will air on Monday, according to dailyrecord.co.uk
