Transsexual denied Parly job

Poland's parliament will not make history as the first in the world to have a transsexual deputy speaker, after lawmakers from an anti-clerical party on Friday failed to push through their candidate in this deeply Roman Catholic nation.

Born as a man, Anna Grodzka (58), was nominated last week for the position by party colleagues in the left-wing, Palikot Movement, which advocates legalising marijuana and civil unions for gay couples.
