The European Parliament announced the finalists for the Sakharov Prize on 9 October 2019. And for the first time in its 30 years of existence, a person from the LGBTI community is on the list: Marielle Franco.

Georgia is about to host its first-ever Pride March, under threat of attacks by far right LGBTIphobic groups and the Orthodox Church. However Georgian authorities refuse to provide adequate protect to Tbilissi Pride March, due to take place on Saturday 22 June.

European Parliament: Russia must address LGBTQ persecution in Chechnya
In a resolution adopted today, the European Parliament has called on Russian authorities to end the campaign of persecution targeted at people perceived to be LGBTQ in Chechnya.
