Iraq: Scrap Anti-LGBTQ Bill
Human Rights Watch stated wednesday that the Iraqi government should drop a proposed law presently before parliament that would impose the death penalty for same-sex behaviour and imprisonment for transgender expression. If passed, the measure would violate key human rights, including the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals in Iraq to freedom of expression, association, privacy, equality, and nondiscrimination.
