Vatican newspaper says French president ignored opposition

The French government ignored many of its citizens and made an ideological choice in legalizing same-sex marriage, the Osservatore Romano said Wednesday.

One day earlier, the government of French President Francois Hollande legalized same-sex marriage after a fierce national debate.

The newspaper of Vatican City complained the decision is divisive for French society and threatens relationships.
