Turkey: Charges Against 19 LGBTI+ Rights Defenders Must Be Dropped
Civil Rights Defenders, International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), Front Line Defenders and International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA-Europe) call upon Turkish authorities to drop all charges against 19 LGBTI+ rights defenders due to stand trial on 12 November 2019 in Ankara.

Turkmenistan: Gay Man Missing After Coming Out Online
A man is feared missing in Turkmenistan after he made his sexual orientation public, Human Rights Watch said Friday. The Turkmen government should urgently clarify whether the man, Kasymberdy Garayev, is in custody, and if he is, release him immediately and explain why he was being held.

Uganda: Forced Anal Exams Violate Rights
Ugandan police arrested 16 men in Kampala on October 21, 2019 after a crowd shouted homophobic slurs and threatened to attack them. The police accused the men of homosexual conduct.

Homophobic Uganda Plans to Re-introduce «Anti-Homosexuality Act»
In an interview with Thomson Reuters today the Ethics and Integrity Minister of Uganda, Simon Lokodo, has announced plans to introduce to parliament a bill imposing the death penalty for same-sex relations and «promotion and recruitment» of homosexuality in order to curb a rise in «unnatural sex». Local activists confirm that it is to be tabled on October 28, 2019.

The World Congress of Families (WCF), designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, announced last week that a regional conference would be held on October 31 and November 1 in Accra, Ghana, marking an expansion of its right-wing fundamentalist agenda in West Africa.
