Finland violated rights of a lesbian mothers’ child by rejecting his asylum application, UN finds
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child found that Finland failed to consider the best interests of the child of a lesbian couple when assessing his asylum request. Now the country is under an obligation to provide reparation.

Iceland and Nepal Join UN LGBTI Core Group
On 14 May 2020, Iceland and Nepal joined the UN LGBTI Core Group, bringing the number of members of the group to a total of 31 states and the delegation of the European Union. Nepal is the second country in Asia to become part of the group.

Commission on the Status of Women Agrees Inclusive Conclusions Despite Backlash
Despite an increasingly polarised environment and strong pressure against inclusivity and diversity, the 63rd session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the foremost intergovernmental body dedicated to gender equality, came to a close late on Friday, March 22, with participating states having agreed conclusions which aim to strengthen the rights of all women to social protection systems, access to public services, and sustainable infrastructure.
