Romania’s senate overwhelmingly backed a citizens’ initiative on Tuesday to change the definition of family in the constitution in a nationwide referendum, a move that could make it impossible to legalise same-sex unions in the future.

Slovenian referendum rejects marriage equality
The referendum voters in Slovenia have rejected a law to open marriage to same-sex couples with 37% of those who cast their vote were in favour of the amendment, 63% voted against it. The amendment to the Marriage and Family Relations Act will not now come into force.
