Senate Confirms Nation’s First Openly-Gay Federal Appellate Judge
Last Tuesday the United States Senate by a vote of 98 to 0 confirmed Todd Hughes to serve as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, making him the first openly-gay person to serve as a federal appellate judge.

Military Same-Sex Spouses Eligible for Benefits Today
Today the same-sex spouses of military service members become eligible to receive a range of federal benefits, thanks to a Department of Defense policy change that was announced last month implementing the U.S. Supreme Court ruling striking down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Southern Baptist Convention Shuns Gay Youth with BSA Vote
Yesterday the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) approved a resolution condemning the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) decision to allow openly-gay Scouts, and called for the removal of all pro-equality BSA executives and board leaders.
