Federal Appeals Court Upholds SB 1172 Protecting California’s Youth
Today the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit upheld California SB 1172 which prohibits dangerous and disproved efforts designed to change a young person’s sexual orientation or gender expression that have proven to inflict great emotional harm.

Jose Julio Sarria, founder of the International Court System, Passes Away
One of America’s gay rights pioneering leaders, José Julio Sarria, passed away Monday morning quietly in his home in New Mexico. He was 91. Funeral and Memorial Service arrangements will be announced by the Imperial Court of San Francisco.

Christianity and Science Are Allies, Not Weapons, on Transgender Equality
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest civil rights organization dedicated to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality, last Friday renounced an anti-transgender op-ed by Russell D. Moore, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Bayard Rustin to be Posthumously Awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom
The White House today announced Bayard Rustin, the late civil and human rights advocate will be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.
