Weiner Hails Congressional Action to Dismantle the Military’s “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” Policy
“Today’s vote is a major step toward the eventual dismantling of the military’s ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ policy,” said Rep. Anthony Weiner. “For the sake of our security, it is imperative that our military be equipped with the most talented, willing, and capable men and women that this country has to offer – regardless of their sexual orientation.”
The House of Representatives passed the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell with a vote of 234 to 194.
Representative Weiner recently wrote a letter to Secretary Gates calling for a study of how DADT has impacted officer candidate cadets at universities after learning that the Pentagon never made efforts to understand this issue.
